FlawedMaud came about many years ago when I started making and selling bags and cushions to supplement my income, I went to local craft fairs and also sold as commissions through word of mouth, however, life got in the way, full time work took over and I thought that my 'making' days were finished ........ .In 2015 I attened a short course in silversmithing, I wanted to create my own jewellery and love a challenge! This led to presents for family and friends, this then expanded into a small workshop, Etsy shop and FlawedMaud was reignited! I amassed so much stock which was just sitting in airtight bags, my son, Harry urged me to actually get out there and start selling it! So, in 2024 I started selling my jewellery via maker's markets and craft fairs. And I love it! Having contact with people and getting my enthusiasm for my craft across is very rewarding and I shall continue to do so, have a look at my Upcoming Markets page to see where I will be next!
I use traditional techniques to make minimalistic, organic feeling jewellery using sterling silver, copper & sea glass.
Each piece will have it's own uniqueness and I like to incorporate any 'flaws' into my work to enhance it, I like to play around with ideas and hope you will love my jewellery as much as I love making it.
I have my own unique registered sponsor’s/maker's mark (JR), held with the London Goldlsmith's office and any pieces that I create over the weight of 7.78 grams will be fully hallmarked as per legal requirements.
Recently after making a family birthstone necklace for a good friend, I realised the beauty of natural raw birthstones and how combining them can really mean something to the wearer, whether it's a charm bracelet with your children's birthstones attached, or a memory necklace with the birthstone of a loved one that is no longer with you, combined with your own, the possibilities are endless. I went on the hunt to find a company to work with to provide me with the raw stones that I had in mind and now work with a small company in India who use raw gem off cuts from the jewellery trade that would normally be wasted, they are combined with sterling silver to make the lovely raw, tactile charms that I use.
